Not Too Tame are a multi award winning theatre company who work in ensemble.  We are firmly founded on the belief of ‘Theatre for All’, focusing specifically on creating work that breaks the boundaries of tame, polite theatre and engages those who feel that theatre isn’t for them.

Our unique productions are hopeful and energetic, celebrating regional identity, community and the resilience of the human spirit. You can bet your bottom dollar that a Not Too Tame show is always a heartwarming and electric night out.

Our diverse company members hail from all over the UK and beyond; Bristol, London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Yorkshire, Cheshire all the way to Singapore and Sydney - but our heart is based and originates from Warrington in the North West of England.

The company was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director, Jimmy Fairhurst with a desire to bring accessible, engaging and hopeful work to communities like  his home town of Warrington. Jimmy felt that there was huge potential for performing ‘everyman stories’  in an exhilarating and gig like way, that celebrated the best in rural and urban communities.

"Our work guarantees to entertain, but we also explore some of the difficult, but socially relevant every day dilemmas of modern Britain."

Forging relationships between traditional theatre buildings and a network of non traditional theatre venues, Not Too Tame are challenging the preconceptions of what theatre should and can be...

So take a grab pint, take a seat and get a load of this!

"The company’s stated intention is to engage audiences who don’t feel they belong in “tame, polite theatre”, and they do this with great charm and energy"
